Role Summary

We are seeking a driven and experienced Projects Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex mechanical, electrical and energy infrastructure projects within industrial environments.

This role demands a highly organised and technically proficient individual capable of managing multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Projects Manager will play a strategic role in overseeing the full lifecycle of engineering projects—from scoping and design to procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout—supporting EM3’s mission of delivering impactful energy performance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Lead the delivery of multiple energy and decarbonisation projects across industrial facilities.
  • Oversee all project phases including: planning, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure timely execution within agreed budgets and scope.

 Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the key liaison between EM3, clients, contractors, equipment vendors and internal engineering teams.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, progress reports, and updates to senior stakeholders.

 Programme & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules and resource plans using tools such as MS Dynamics.
  • Coordinate internal and external personnel across disciplines to ensure aligned execution.

 Budget & Cost Control

  • Prepare project budgets, track costs, manage change orders, and ensure financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the finance team to monitor cash flow, invoicing, and project profitability.

 Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and client-specific protocols.
  • Lead quality assurance procedures including: commissioning validation protocols.

 Risk Management

  • Identify potential project risks early and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain updated risk registers and contingency plans.

 Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate project documentation including: Gantt charts, meeting minutes, safety records and technical reports.
  • Provide project dashboards and executive summaries for internal and client use.

Project Management Excellence

  • Proficient in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of technical/engineering projects.
  • Ability to manage complex projects involving multiple contractors, technologies, and stakeholders.

 Technical Acumen

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems within industrial or utility-scale settings.
  • Experience managing energy efficiency, decarbonisation, or utility infrastructure projects (e.g., steam systems, CHP, compressed air, cooling, renewables).

 Leadership & Communication

  • Proven ability to lead project teams and drive collaboration across diverse functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of technical material to senior management and clients.

 Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk assessments, method statements, and site safety coordination.
  • Ability to enforce safety best practices across sites.

 Procurement & Contracting

  • Experienced in contractor selection, vendor management and administration of contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, or bespoke terms).

 Problem Solving & Decision Making

  • Ability to assess technical and logistical challenges and drive fast, pragmatic, and compliant resolutions.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 8+ years of project management experience in energy, industrial, utilities, or capital project environments.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of sustainability, energy systems, and decarbonisation technologies.
  • Experience working with industrial clients in sectors such as Food & Beverage, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices or Data Centres is highly valued.
  • Full clean driving license and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
